6 Things Successful New Property Developers Do Differently

After decades of working with new developers, Bob and Hilary have noticed something: the ones who succeed are not the ones with the most money or the most luck. They share a handful of habits, and every single one can be learned. Here are six of them.

1. Get educated before you gamble

Real understanding beats an endless pile of information. Successful developers learn the process properly so they can make decisions with confidence, rather than collecting more and more content and never acting on any of it.

2. Ask better questions

The pearl is inside the oyster. Better questions are what reveal the deal everyone else walked past. The developers who win are the ones who dig one level deeper than the next buyer.

3. Don’t wait until you’re ready

Waiting to feel ready is the biggest anchor of all. You will never feel one hundred percent ready. The people who succeed start anyway and learn as they go.

4. Actually use your support

Having a team around you is only useful if you use it. The most successful students lean on their support instead of going it alone, and it saves them time, money and mistakes.

5. Treat your first project as a learning vehicle

Your first project is not a gamble to wing. It is a learning vehicle. Approach it that way and the pressure comes off, and you build the skills that make every project after it easier.

6. Build confidence through action

Confidence is not something you find before you start. It is built through action. Every step you take makes the next one easier.
